New 12ft, 10ft, 9ft, 8ft Artisan Snooker Tables

The Sovereign range of Artisan snooker tables is made entirely by hand in Accrington by skilled ex-Riley designers and machinists, and installed by our own time-served table fitters. It was designed and produced by our chief snooker table technician, and the same people built Ronnie O'Sullivan's personal solid walnut match table. Tables can be ordered in 12ft, 10ft, 9ft and 8ft sizes, in any shade or colour to suit your room.

Our refurbishers have over 120 years of experience between them in technical design, and ten years in the manufacture of World Tournament tables supplied to the World Snooker Association.

How it is made

Each table is crafted from selected timbers: rough sawn oak, walnut and mahogany hardwoods ordered from local specialist timber suppliers. Every component is hand machined and finished individually to exacting standards. The cushions, legs and frame are all made new to the full dimensions and profile of a full-size match table, and every table is built to the standard snooker height of 33½ inches from floor to top of cushion unless you ask otherwise.

Full-size tables have a five-piece 1¾ inch Italian slate bed, precision ground on a diamond bench. The 10ft, 9ft and 8ft models have 1½ inch diamond bench precision-ground Italian slate. Adjustable slate bearers are built into the frame design across the range, and Northern rubbers, ball runners, pocket nets and natural hide leathers are fitted as standard. Two 12ft oak full-size tables from this range were supplied to a club.

Legs, colours and options

Square tapered, square plain and square fluted legs, and the other leg designs pictured on this page unless otherwise stated, are included in the price. The main colour of the table is included too, and cushions and frames can be finished in any colour combination you choose to suit your room. Wood is a natural material and can move and settle into a new environment over time; the grain on the legs runs vertically, and any small splits are generally not to the detriment of the structure. If cracks appear they can be filled with furniture wax or wood filler to remove the mark.

Cloth

Any cloth type and colour can be fitted. For normal use we recommend the Hainsworth Smart range of wool napped cloth for its durability. Our fitters, all time-served through Riley apprenticeships when manufacturing was based in Accrington and Padiham, regard Hainsworth Smart as the benchmark: it gives seven to ten years of hard wear and is the cloth found in most snooker halls and clubs the world over. Strachan Tournament and Hainsworth Match last around 12 months and are what you would find on a snooker hall match table. Strachan Match and Hainsworth Precision, the cloths used in professional tournaments, last only a matter of weeks.
