Over the years we have exported our snooker and pool tables to customers wherever they are. Our time served ex-Riley staff have the knowledge and know-how that has been passed down over the years. The name E.J Riley is world famous for some of the finest snooker tables ever made, and many of them are still to be found on just about every continent.
Riley was based initially next to the railway in Dale Street, Accrington, with the Leeds and Liverpool canal close by. That meant raw materials such as mahogany from Africa and Brazil could be shipped easily to a factory complex with a willing and skilled workforce.
Arranging shipping
By far the most successful and cheapest way to export a table has been for you, the customer, to arrange collection through your own local courier service, UPS for example. It shows commitment on your part and gives you more control over the timescale and tracking of your table.
We will give you the weight and dimensions of the purpose-made shipping crate, which is £250 extra, along with a timeline for completing your table. All you need to do is ask your courier for a quote to collect from Accrington BB5. We give the full collection address to serious enquiries.

Crate sizes and weights
A full size 12ft by 6ft snooker table travels in two secure purpose-made shipping crates, £500 for the pair. The first, 200cm long by 90cm high by 90cm deep and weighing 1100kg, holds the slates, legs, frame, cloth and accessories. The second, 335cm long by 61cm wide by 30cm deep and weighing 150kg, carries the two 10ft frame side rails.
Because of those 10ft side rails, 12ft tables are better loaded and unloaded from the side of the vehicle, so you will need a fork truck at your end. Every other size can be loaded and unloaded with a standard HGV tail lift and delivered kerbside at your address. Crate details for the other sizes, for your courier:
- 10ft snooker table: 255cm long x 90cm wide x 70cm high, 900kg
- 9ft snooker table: 250cm long x 90cm wide x 70cm high, 700kg
- 8ft snooker table, multi-slate (for example a three-piece slate): 225cm long x 96.5cm wide x 70cm high, 600kg
- 8ft pool table, single slate: 254cm long x 147cm wide x 51cm high, 450kg
- 7ft snooker table, single slate: 233cm long x 130cm wide x 70cm high, 375kg
- 7ft Windsor pool table, single slate: 233cm long x 130cm wide x 60cm high, approximately 350kg
- 6ft Majestic pool table, single slate: 203cm long x 122cm wide x 60cm high, 275kg
- 6ft Riley snooker diner, single slate: 214cm long x 125cm wide x 50cm high, 275kg
Ball sizes
Each type of table takes a different size of ball.
- 6ft snooker and pool tables: 1⅞ inch
- 7ft snooker and snooker diner: 2 inch
- 7ft pool: 2 inch
- 8ft pool: 2 inch
- 8ft snooker diner: 2 inch
- 8ft snooker, and all 9ft, 10ft and 12ft snooker tables: 2 1/16 inch
Lead time, deposit and payment
Tables are usually ready around 8 to 12 weeks from the order being placed. We take a deposit of 20% by bank transfer to secure your table, and the balance is paid in full before the table leaves the factory, just prior to shipping. Every table is supplied with all the accessories two people need to play a game of snooker or pool, depending on the table.
We can hold a table for months if need be, until your room is ready. Note that if a table is left in the workshop for a long period, the cost of some raw materials such as the bed cloth may rise with inflation; any increase is added to the balance payment, with your approval. If you have the transport, you may also collect the table direct from the factory.

The only figure we cannot give you is the courier cost, which comes from your own quote.

Fitting abroad
If you have difficulty sourcing your own fitters, ours, Sovereign Snooker Services, will fly out and install your table. Each export fitting job is judged on its own merits as to what is needed for a successful installation. Basically the fitters need their accommodation, wages and expenses covered.
The fitters are based in Accrington, Lancashire. All are time served Riley fitters with over 45 years of experience in the trade, and their skills range from the standard re-covering of any snooker, English or American pool table to the full refurbishment of match steel block tables.
