This full-size Burroughes & Watts snooker table was made in 1890 from solid Honduras mahogany. The five-piece 2 inch Welsh slate bed sits on an ornately scrolled frame carried by eight carved tulip legs.
The table was fully restored in 2000, when it was given upgraded Riley Aristocrat mahogany cushions along with new ball runners and pocket leathers. It is now stored securely in our Accrington workshop awaiting a buyer.
The table
Everything about this table is substantial. The slate bed is 2 inches thick in five pieces, the frame is deeply scrolled, and the eight tulip legs are carved rather than turned. The Riley Aristocrat cushions fitted during the 2000 restoration are also solid mahogany.
History
For the last 21 years the table stood in a private residence in the North of England. Before that it was the main table in a snooker club in Bacup, Lancashire, where the professional player and commentator Jim Meadowcroft used to practise his game.
