This 10ft Allied Billiards Sovereign was made in Accrington in the 1980s. It came to us from a private residence where it had been owned from new, well looked after and had seen little use. It arrived in immaculate condition and was stored in its component parts in our workshop awaiting refurbishment.
It is an unusually sturdy design: eight legs on a 10ft table, standard solid mahogany cushions and a five-piece 1½ inch Italian slate bed.
The table
Allied Billiards built the Sovereign to a very solid eight-leg design, which is more than most 10ft tables carry. The cushions are standard solid mahogany and the bed is five pieces of 1½ inch Italian slate.
For unobstructed play with full-size snooker cues, the ideal room size for this table is 20ft x 15ft.
The refurbishment
All outward-facing woodwork is stripped to bare wood, any imperfections are repaired and the complete table is re-polished back to its original state. The table can be finished as the factory finish shown in the main picture, or taken to a darker mahogany during refurbishment if preferred.
New natural hide pocket leathers, cotton nets and ball runners are fitted. The cushions and bed are recovered in Hainsworth Smart English wool napped cloth in the colour of your choice.
