This 10ft Burroughes and Watts snooker table was made in England in the 1920s. It came to us from a private club where it had been very well looked after, and arrived in great condition. We dismantled it and stored it in its component parts in our workshop ahead of a full refurbishment.
It is a very sturdy six-leg design with solid mahogany cushions and a five-piece 1¼ inch Welsh slate bed. For unobstructed play with full-size cues the ideal room is 20ft by 15ft.
The refurbishment
Although the table was already in good order, all outward-facing woodwork is completely stripped and sanded. Any imperfections are repaired and the whole table is re-polished back to its original factory finish.
The pockets get new natural hide leathers, cotton nets and ball runners. Cushions and bed are recovered in traditional olive green Hainsworth Smart English wool napped cloth. The result looks and plays as new.
