Riley made several versions of the very popular Imperial. The most common carries curved sweeps under the main frame rail; this is the straight-rail version, in solid mahogany, with a precision-ground five-piece 1¾ inch Italian slate bed.
The table components are stored in our workshop awaiting the full refurbishment process. Once delivered and installed, the table will look and play as new. Overseas enquiries are welcome.
The table
The Imperial is a full-size Riley design and was produced in more than one form. Most examples have curved sweeps set beneath the main frame under-rail, as shown in the second photograph. This table is the straight-rail version, without the sweeps. The last photograph shows an oak Imperial of the same straight-rail pattern for comparison.
The refurbishment
All outward-facing surfaces are stripped and sanded, any imperfections repaired, and the table finished in several coats of satin lacquer. It can be finished in any shade or colour to suit your room.
New hide leathers and white cotton nets with ball runner pockets are fitted. Northern cushion rubbers are fitted, and both cushions and bed are covered in Hainsworth Smart wool napped cloth.
The metal fittings, including the rest hangers, scoreboard sliders and rest heads, can be supplied in either brass or chrome.
