This 6ft antique E.J Riley of Accrington snooker table was made in the 1920s from solid African mahogany and English oak. It is a full undersize design: a heavy 1 inch thick slate bed with the cushions bolted into the slate, just like a full-size table.
It is a cracking antique snooker table, built to a very robust design that will last another 100 years.
The table
The legs are solid mahogany and the cushions are solid oak, both finished in a rich traditional satin finish. The bed is a single piece of precision-ground 1 inch Welsh slate and Northern cushion rubbers are fitted. Outside dimensions are approximately 80 x 43 inches.
The first photograph shows the actual table components, including the legs and one of the cushions. The second is an archive image of a very similar 6ft model to give a good idea of how the finished table will look.
The refurbishment
The table has been fully refurbished and is almost ready. New pockets, leathers and nets are fitted. All that remains is for the customer to choose a colour from the Hainsworth Smart wool napped cloth range, which is then fitted.
