E.J Riley of Accrington made this 6ft square leg snooker dining table in the 1920s from solid African mahogany. A solid brass rise and fall mechanism takes it from dining height to playing height, and it comes with a four-piece solid mahogany table top. The table was sold in January 2019.
The table
The outside dimensions are 78 by 42 inches, with an inside playing area of 69 by 33 inches. It stands at 32½ inches at playing height and 29½ inches at dining height. The bed is a precision-ground one-piece half-inch Welsh slate and the cushions are fitted with Northern rubbers.
The refurbishment
The table was finished in a rich dark mahogany, with new pockets, leathers and nets, and new Hainsworth Smart wool napped cloth in traditional green or the customer's own choice of colour.
